Filming day 2(production blog)

Image
Hey Blog!! For filming day two we met up at Kylie’s house late at night. The time was around 8:00. We were filming the second scene and got to talking again about what shots were shooting, and how the acting is going to be. After that us three did get a little side tracked and started riding on bikes. We called it creative time to lets us think and get into the mood. Also to get the giggles out. The obstacles I think were for this day was Kylie’s kylies dogs. They kept barking really loud and would run up anytime we would close or open the door. Also there were Halloween decorations up so we had to move some things around to match our set. We filmed on her front porch and in her dads car.Non of us have a license so the car was definitely parked. Again like day one I don’t believe we have the shots we need, and I take part fault because I should have spoke up sense it’s a partnership in this project. I mean it is what it is and footage we have is usable.

Scheduling(production blog)

Image
HEY BLOG!! For this blog we’re talking about scheduling. I found it a struggle to fit filming into my schedule for many reasons. My first reason is that I have a job. My parents want me to learn to be self sufficient. So I have to pay for everything myself. Such as rides(I don’t have a car), phone bill, school fees, ect. So I do work most nights after school. Also I have school work, like my Ap classes that require a lot of above and beyond work. Just those two alone, I found it really hard to fit everything into my schedule and consider my groupmates. Also my parents are never really around to help me on this kind of stuff since they’re out of town working so much. At the end of the day I did find time to film and get what I needed to get done. Although it did feel rushed, At least I can check it off my to-do list. I did recognize that my partner doesn’t have a job, so she also had to work around me and my busy schedule and I really appreciate her for that. Hopefully next time my age

story of the music video

Image
The type of story we're going fo, for this project is a toxic love type of story line. The video starts off as the two main characters arguing. Which is inspired by the music video of "We Cry Together". As the couple argues the girl of the relationship leaves and slams the door. After that the male of the relationship spirals and starts to worry about where she is leading to him getting in his car and tracking her location. He follows and finds her at another guys house, and through the window he can see her being comforted by the other male from because she was trying. The male of the relationship gets anger bangs on the for which has the girl open up which leads to more arguing. The girl tries to go and the male is stopping her so she pulls up her keys and goes to try to key her car. After that they kind of make up and drive off together. though what Im saying now doesn't really make the best sense. With editing and the videographics paired with the music, its goin

Filming day one(production blog)

Image
Hey blog!! This is my filming production blog. For filming we had three people on set at my house around for  6:00. At first Me, Kylie, And our peer Justin sat and talked about what scenes were gonna film. Basically talking about the type of movements we should do with camera, lighting. Prior I taught kylie how to use my Sony camera my dad let us borrow. But during filming I realized we had to do a lot of retakes with the acting because to be honest to was nerve wrecking acting on camera. Justin and I could not keep it together. But overall it was fun. I do believe we didn’t get as many shots as we should. I suggested we follow the storyboard, but my partner kylie has a love for direction so I let her take the lead. On my part I do believe that was a mistake, because she might have been nervous, and looking through the footage, we don’t have the camera angles we needed. I do know we’re gonna pull through and try our best to get our project completed.

Storyboard for music video

BREAKDOWN:      SCENE 1 - The boyfriend and girlfriend are loudly yelling at each other and visible fighting. However, no dialogue is heard over the music. She eventually walks out, irritated by him and the argument.      SCENE 2 - In the car, the boyfriend is driving angrily, and is tracking the girlfriend's location on his phone.      SCENE 3 - He arrives to a house and sees her talking with another man. Angered, he bangs on the door and she comes out yelling. They argue outside the house and she threatens him with her keys, the argument is obviously aggressive. With the keys, she holds them against the car, threatening to key the car.       SCENE 4 - They're both in the car as he's driving. They aren't speaking to one another.      SCENE 5 - The trunk of the car is popped open, and they're sitting in the back while it's in park. They're not speaking to each other and it's visible awkward. However, they both feel guilty and return back to one an

Planning

The storyline behind our music video is a couple that is just not made for each other. They’re both instigators, stubborn, and act before they think. This couple would constantly try to get back at each other, see other people, and overall are just not a good fit. However, like most toxic couples, they would end up back together and in the end, the cycle will just continue. In order to make the house we want to use feel more lived in, we want to use lots of props for our “set”. These include things like keys for one of our characters to drive, a phone for one of our scenes, and more. We don’t want to have anything crazy in our music video, just regular old household items you’d find in any other apartment. Since the girl’s taking her stuff and leaving, we’re imagining her walking out with a purse maybe. Obviously, neither of us are guys, and we need one for the video. We have friends that could help us out, and in the worst case scenario, we can still portray the toxicity of the couple

3 Inspirations for our music video

Image
Here With Me (d4vd): This song is very, very similar to the song we're doing. It portrays a love story, but not a twisted one like the other two music videos. Had lots of B-rolls to foreshadow the couple’s lives and their eventual deaths. Cool-toned lighting with lots of neutrals, not a lot of warmth. The setting was very romantic, and also very realistic. It’s not a fancy set, but more so a setting this story could actually take place in. SHE (Tyler The Creator & Frank Ocean): This music video talks about a very obsessed type of love, and portrays it in many ways. The genre itself is not exact, but similar to the genre of our song. Lots of close ups + two shots throughout the video emphasize the dialogue between the characters so the audience can follow through the storyline. Low angels while following the characters to express changing of scenes and location to show perspective of each of owns mind Acting is very adolescent + satire to mimic sitcoms. The video is very unserio

Introduction Blog

Hey blog! From my previous project I believe I list do my best. I rushed it a bit and didn't put much effort. But I am glad to say it introduced me to what I am getting into this year for this class. I am greatly excited for this music video project. The song I decided to do id Dark Red by Steve lacy. But Im gonna save the details for my planning blogs. I hope to be very creative, and take this as a learning experience. I do believe I will improve especially with the help of my partner.

The person I decided to work with is my best friend Kyle McDonald. Her and I share the same love e for film/Hollywood and even decided to take this class together so we can explore our creativeness. For what I know Kylie has a very artistic view for everything. To me she thinks as if she's in an actual movie. I definitely believe I can rely on her for support and ideas for this music video. Not only that outside of this project we also been planning a short film to do together. We have the cast, equipment, location, and script. All we need to do is film. Its for a film contest. Hopefully we can get it done in time, but if not, just the experience of us doing it together is just as great. Im really excited to continue this music video with Kylie, and hopefully you guys enjoy it.
